Warrington 51 - Sandbach 3 Sat 23 October 99 Sandbach 4ths played an outstanding game against a team of ex rugby league internationals. Good looking, athletic captain Mark Thompson praised his team’s total determination and heart. Considering the opposition every man to a body gave everything against a team who are used to winning by 100 points plus. Particular praise was deserved by the forwards who drove the "all stars" back at least 5 yards every scrummage. Individual praise for young winger Niall McKracken for a committed performance, which included tackling Warrington’s largest player so hard he had to leave the pitch. Warrington were only allowed to run with the ball very occasionally, however, their pace, skill and speed converted every chance they created. After the game praise was awarded to a Sandbach team, who against all odds gave a massively superior opposition their hardest game of the season so far. Thanks to all the Sandbach players for putting their bodies where their hearts were.
