Didsbury Toc H 39 - Sandbach 10 |
Sun 2 April 2000
A Sandbach team depleted by a distinct lack of back row players travelled to Didsbury TocH on Sunday 2 April.
The illness of Caen & Kiernan and the enforced (?) absence of Graveney who was otherwise engaged as a spectator at Murrayfield made it necessary for Sandbach to field Stewart McCracken & Mike Huss as flankers with only Dan Stubbs at No 8 as a regular back row player.
Despite this re-organisation the Sandbach team put up an excellent display against their hosts and on another day would have run out worthy winners.
However just like England at Murrayfield Sandbach found that everything that could have gone against them did. Although they were in the game throughout Sandbach were beaten by a combination of events that included Didsbury scoring after an obvious knock on and also twice from lucky interceptions.
