Northwich 0 - Sandbach 25

Sun 25 January 2004

Sandbach played to their best ability to comfortably overcome a Northwich side, who struggled to keep pace with a Sandbach Team playing an open fast passing game, with strong support from all areas of the pitch. Oliver Moore was joined in the centre by 1st team debutant Nicky Weaver, and the two combined to what is hoped to be a future impressive partnership, with Moore scoring a hat-trick of tries, and Weaver scoring a brace. Oliver Corbett interchanged his normal fly-half position with scrum half Elliot Barton, and quickly settled to this new position, with the equally adaptable Barton putting in his usual consistent performance. Jacques Jervis also further demonstrated the adaptability of the side by switching from centre to prop, ably supported by Max Menaged, George Hopley, and Rory Toft. Thomas Hutchinson, and Michael Vennard gave the team speed on the flanks, taking the advantage of the space created.

Team:Thomas Hutchinson[George Hopley], Max Menaged, Oliver Corbett, Elliot Barton, Oliver Moore, Nicky Weaver, Rory Toft, Jacques Jervis, Michael Vennard.

The 2nd team played the same Northwich team, and as is now expected produced another performance which would be a credit to most 1st teams, winning 10-0. Sandbach took the lead through a Charlotte Chambers try, and quickly built on this lead when the strong running of Thomas Blackhurst saw him go over for a well deserved halftime lead. In the second half a strong defence led by hooker Elliot Morris and prop George Cooper, supported by the creativity of scrum half Thomas Butler, ensured that there was no way back for Northwich.

Team:Thomas Blackhurst, Thomas Butler, Joshua Spear, Elliot Morris, Charlotte Chambers,Daisy Benson, George Cooper, Ben Benfold, Joseph Watts.
