Whitchurch Festival

Sun 19 April 2009
Beat Shrewsbury 1 - Nil First half played in 5 metres of either side of the half way line. Second half we managed to free our backs and put shrewsbury under pressure. From a quickly taken penalty Ben the Raging Bull ran over 2 shrewsbury defenders to score a deserved try. Drew with Whitchurch Nil - Nil This was a game which saw us under constant pressure with some tremendous defending by all the players, just before half time it seemed whitchurch were sure to score but a game saving tackle was made by MB who in the process injured his knee ligaments. In the second half we started to force whitchurch on the defensive mainly though some excellent positional kicking by Alex. Lost Crewe 1 - 0 Re match from the cheshire plate final saw us go down to the only try of the game when we were down to 11 men. Alex again tried to get the forwards going forward again with the help of Jay but we were not able to create a try scoring opportunity. Beat Oswestry 2 - 0 Great performance all round, forwards and backs working as one unit. We dominated the whole game, with the backs running the ball from all areas of the pitch. Our 2 tries came from excellent drives which allowed Simon to bulldozzer over the line to score both tries in either half. Beat Newcastle 5 - 0 This game showed how good we can be. The backs ran some excellent rehearsed moves with the forwards winning every scrum and set piece. We scored at regular intervals thoughout the game. Danial Munt scored one of the best tries of the season running half the length of the pitch beating at least 6 opposition players. He then followed this up with another good try. Simon and Paddy also scored. Just before the final whistle we won a attacking scrum and Jay scampered over to round of a great day's rugby. Over all we finished 3rd in our group. The lads gave everything they had and more. We suffered numerous injuries thoughout put in true sandbach spirit they never gave up.
