Sandbach 90 - Winnington Park 20

Sun 16 January 2005

Squad: Stephen Lynch, Charlie Rogerson, Joe Stock, Chris Jackson, Alastair Thompson, Robert Coggon, Dominic Evans, Max Bonar Law, Danny Owen, Thomas Stakes, Kieran Leese, Megan Standring, James Barry, Joseph Jackson, George Beal, Matthew Mangan, Harry Broady, George Hubbard, Nathan Norwood, Fred Green, Loucas Thomas Garrett, Anthony Dowell, Jake Harrison.

Quarter1: Sandbach 15 Winnington Park 0
Try scorers: Robert Coggon (2), Jake Harrison

Sandbach applied pressure from the start, with excellent driving and tackling from Danny Owen and Robert Coggon. Winnington displayed some excellent defensive play and took control however Sandbach made the most of the opportunities.

Quarter 2: Sandbach 40 Winnington Park 10
Try scorers: Joe Jackson (5), Kieran Leese, George Beal (2)
Sandbach were unstoppable in this quarter, displaying good rucking skills and some great running from Joe Jackson and George Beal in particular.

Quarter 3: Sandbach 5 Winnington Park 10
Try scorer: Jake Harrison

Despite some great driving work from Dominic Evans and Megan Standring, this quarter belonged to Winnington with a great try from their own line and some stoic defensive work. Jake Harrison recovered some ground for Sandbach by stealing the ball on their line supported by some great running from Harry Broady.

Quarter 4: Sandbach 30 Winnington Park 0
Try scorer: Charlie Rogerson (2), Joe Jackson (3), George Beal

Again some great running seen from Sandbach but they were lucky that Winnington were unable to make any points from the high number of penalties conceded by Sandbach.

Despite the overall score line, Sandbach will walk away from this game with some key areas to address. Excellent running disguised the fact that Sandbach as a team, were not up to their usual level of tackling today and will have to work hard on those areas to beat the stronger teams they will come up against.
