Sandbach 10 - Northwich 30 Sun 24 September 2000 Two matches. First "real" match, proved what a big step up this is. Northwich turned up, sponsored I think by Dunlopillo or Michelin, given the body armour and head guard ratio! Having about a third of our squad away at cub camp, we were bolstered by five ringers from the under tens. Even these old hands were unable to produce the result we would have preferred, as we lost quite convincingly by 2 tries to 6. A second match gave a little encouragement, as we matched them score for score until near to the end, when tiredness and the conditions caused us to fade, allowing Northwich to sneak a winner just before time by 6 tries to 7.
