Altrincham Kersal 17 - Sandbach 5 Sun 17 December 2000 Sandbach made the trip to Altricham with a bear fifteen players, with Matt Stanway at the Liverpool v Manchester United match, Chris Poolford with the flu, and Ross Stitt nursing an injury sustained during a School match. By half time Altrincham were ahead 7-0 which they extended to 14-0 before Nick Woods crossed the try line to score. Without the boot of Matt Stanway this was unconverted to leave the score at 14-5. With minutes to go Altrincham were awarded a penalty, which was easily put between the sticks to leave the final score at 17-5. So far Sandbach have played four league matches only one of which has been at Bradwall Road, it will be nice to see how they perform on their own midden, that is weather permitting. The first round of the National Colts Cup has now been drawn, and Sandbach, being one of only four Northwest sides in it, have been drawn against Old Northamptonians.
