Sharks
The game against Bowden was a good test and it was proved during the match in difficult weather and pitch conditions. During the two halves, both teams were camped in the centre of the pitch with good defence. It only took a single lapse of concentration to allow Bowden in and to score the matches only try. Overall an average performance from the Sharks.
Saxons - report by Julia Hearn
The Saxons started off the game, but were immediately counter attacked by a strong Bowden side who were given the time and space to enjoy themselves with the ball in hand. This set the tone of the match, with the backs trying hard to take the ball up the pitch, but they had very little support from the forwards in match play. In the set pieces like the scrum and lineout the forwards held their own, but the rucking was non-existent, and this left the back to try and do this work themselves which opened up gaps inthe defence which Bowden exploited.
The Saxons tried to come back but did not play with any intensity. When Saxons did place Bowden under pressure, it did result in positive play but could not be sustained. Despite this there were members of the team that deserve mention for their effort and determination. Nathan Williams had a good game on his wing, and put in some much needed tackles at crucila times. There were some good runs and tackles by the hard working Maddie and James H.
Player of the Match was Maya, who set a really good example. There was nowhere on the pitch she did not play one, she did some much needed timely tackles and really played with so much grit and determination. Well done Maya.
