Marple 2 39 - Sandbach 12 Sat 27 October 2012 Sandbach travelled to Marple with expectations of an improved performance over the previous week and a victory against a side some five places below them in the league. At half time, despite playing some reasonable rugby Sandbach found themselves 27-0 down. It was one of those days when nothing seemed to go right and the opposition always seemed to get the 'rub of the green' At half time Sandbach agreed a more forward orientated game, which wasn't a bad idea given they had 12 forwards on the pitch. This tactic seemed to work and Sandbach started to claw their way back into the game with tries from Big Andy and Rich Pickles. In the end Sandbach knew the damage had been done in the first half and heads dropped a little late on to allow Marple two further late tries, with their Fly Half being dominant as in the first half. Despite the score, this is a game we genuinely could have won with the right tactic and a fair wind. Sandbach look forward to the return fixture in March.
