Sandbach 35 - Manchester 15 Sun 19 November 2000 Having won the toss Sandbach were immediately on the offensive and caught the visitors off guard to force an early try. A combination of overconfidence by Sandbach and the visitors being stung into action saw Manchester come storming back to level the score. The game continued to be very even in most departments and further tries were swapped at both ends. Half time showed the home team with a narrow 15 - 10 advantage. Encouragingly, swapping players in and out of the team at half time still allowed Sandbach to maintain their upper hand with Manchester now starting to show signs of fatigue. Sandbach continued to put pressure on the visitors producing some good overlap situations, which with the ever-improving support running allowed them to run in another 4 tries.
