5 go on an Autumn adventure
An early start due to an extended day, pity Maria, Lola and Mrs D misheard (we were going to watch sale not to the....)
The 5 led ably by Reely went traipsing off into the woods (nothing suspicious about 5 blokes walking together in the woods), which way should they go?” I know” said Keith “let’s ask that nice woman “
“oh yes it’s that way” she replied and so off the 5 went
An hour or two later they were no nearer their destination. Little Ravers began to cry and sulk “I won’t go any further I work too hard during the week” he cried
Just then Reely and Mo shouted” It’s over here chaps”
The 5 climbed out of the woods into the Autumn sunshine to see the children happily playing with an odd shaped ball. “Don’t make fun of Monty”, Big Josh shouted and “James No that’s not normal”
The children invited other boys to play and soon they had a game going...what fun they had
Luke played a trick on everyone by diving over and throwing the ball away, Josh joined in the fun by colliding with the posts .
Gayley they played in the sunshine running hither and thither stopping only briefly to drink. They even let the other boys have the ball and score just for fairness.
And so the wise old professor blew his whistle and all the children leapt excitedly about...”we won we won” they shouted, but as their parents pointed out it’s not all about winning (sorry.... it is really)
The children rushed off to their secret den were they frolicked and splashed water over themselves (a shower to you and me) and off we went in golden chariots for the second part of the adventure. All apart from little Ravers, who was still sulking...”I really do work hard all week”
“Bye” said everyone covering him in dust
“We’ll give you a wave” shouted his bestest friend in the whole world, Becko.
And so we were all transported as if by magic to a wondrous stadium where grown men were playing the same game the children had been playing earlier and we all watched in amazement as a miracle unfolded before our eyes (Sale won!)
The 5, who were now the 4 (thanks to Ravers wanting to explore the riverbank) went their separate ways and reflected on a truly magical day. They closed their eyes and dreamt of woodland adventure, of great friends, of children playing and of course of victory....sleep well
Oh by the way we played Wilmslow and won 21 – 17, tries by Luke, Josh and James Moore...we played really well in parts and in others not so well, but in the end a great result and much credit to all the lads
For the real match report, where he mentions every single child (even those from his own childhood) read Mat the Managers E mail. LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!xxxxxxxxx
