Sandbach Sharks played two games at home against Trentham. We played our standard game and were slow in getting started in the first game. We won the first game ugly 21-0. In the second game, the team were still not ticking however we won the second game 28-0.
We showed some glimpses of how we can really play, pass and tackle but whilst the result was good, the overall performance was below the level we have set ourselves. We did show some creativity and determination in the final third to score the tries. George Ridings (Big Mush)collected the Man of the Match award from Tom Holmes.
Sandbach Saxons played away at Crewe and Nantwich. We made a good positive start to the game and all players were up for it. Unfortunately the opposition scored first which seemed to ignite our passion and we scored a powerful try by Jamie Johnson. As the match went on the sides fought hard to gain possession. The forwards were unstoppable in the rucks and scrums with Saxons winning them all. Where the backs retained their structure, in attack, the Saxons showed some good pasages of play which used the space created by the forwards. In defence the oppositions tries came through our loss of structure.
The intensity wained slightly from the Saxons as the opposition outscored us however we did play until the final whistle. Man of the Match went to Nathan Williams who contributed to the effort with some crucial tackling.
