Sandbach 30 - Congleton 10 |
Sun 4 February 2001
A convincing win for the home side, brought about by some excellent support play, quick recycling of the ball, and that most useful of ingredients - aggression !
Defensively, Sandbach equited themselves well, good tackling and determination enabling us to emerge with the ball more often than not.
Congleton continued to challenge for the ball throughout, ensuring that spectators were treated to a fast and entertaining game.
Special mention for Katy Jackson, who volunteered (a bit quickly !) to make up the numbers on the visitors team. Maybe had something to do with the fact that they'd brought along their own Katy, the pair making a formidable duo in the centre. Well done Kate(s).
A second match allowed Sandbach to field an almost completely different side, giving match debut's to Graham and Richard, on only their second Sunday with the squad. Both lads equitted themselves well, and slotted nicely into the team.
This game was a little more even, some unconvincing tackling being the main concern of the home side. That said, Congleton exploited the spaces well and pushed hard to limit the score to a home win of 30 points to 20.
