Sandbach 7 - Linley 1 47 Sat 4 September 99 Just three hours before kick-off, skipper Mark Thompson took a call from Bowden 4ths, advising that they couldn’t raise a side for this Iveco Ford sponsored start to the season for last years most successful side! Annoyed and disappointed into the pool we went and out came Linley 1st XV !! The game was an obvious mismatch from the off, with Linley running the game from start to finish. Typical of Thommo’s Tigers the home team refused to give up, tackling and running until the final whistle. The hectic pace of the Linley game left some players simply lost on the pitch, and in his own admission, young centre Duncan Harris “Got lost a bit, found the ball in my hands and their line just a few meters away!” Still Duncan, they all count and you’ll get a few more lucky tries in the rest of your career.
