Sandbach travelled to Winnington on a dour drizzly afternoon for a game which on paper perhaps should have been won reasonably comfortably. As it was, the match was a bit of a ding dong with Sandbach at times getting frustrated by the continual penalties being awarded against them. Despite early pressure from the lads in green, it was Winnington who got the first score which was cancelled out 5 minutes later with the usual contribution from Elliot Morris. After that, each time Sandbach scored, Winnington were allowed to reciprocate. So as it was the score went 5-0, 5-5, 10-5, 10-10, 17-10, 17-17, 24-17. Sandbach did take the upper hand in the last quarter so the final result was never really in doubt and all was left was for Xander to lead the Oggie in the changing rooms with the lyrics he has now managed to commit to memory. Next week it is back to cup rugby with a home match against Wirral.
