Sandbach Sharks and Saxons played away at Caldy on a lovely sunny day by the sea.
Sharks played the Caldy development team initially and we appeared to click immediately into gear and some excellent movement and passing with the forwards getting involved in virtually everything. Our forwards scored the four tries with Callum and Giles scoring two conversions each.
Sharks then played the Caldy first team and our movement and passing again was lovely to see. Thomas Yarwood scored a stunning try running the length of the pitch, stretching his legs. Joseph played well with some good running prior to being smacked in the eye. James Hearn made a crunching tackle which brought tears to the eyes of many. Our forwards and backs contributing equally to the try tally with Callum and Giles scoring the conversions. The score whilst reflecting the possession, flattered the Sharks at 47-0. Man of the Match went to Ike McCormick.
We pass on our best wishes to the Caldy first team player who we believe suffered cracked ribs during our match.
Saxons played the Caldy first team intially and in general were very quiet with Maddie being the one of the most vocal member of the squad. The forwards were strong in the scrums winning every confrontation and virtually every lineout. The backs were slow to position themselves between each play and breaking forward broke down. The tries scored by Caldy came from poor defensive lines and although Caldy were competitive, the Saxons were not outclassed. Result 14-0.
Saxons then played the Caldy development team. Missed tackles allowed Caldy to score an early try. Another strong performance from the forwards enabled Saxons to replay with two strong tries by Tomas Wilson. Khaya and Maddie made several good runs. The backs performance was improved with better formations. Man of the Match - Tomas Wilson.
