Altrincham Kersal 19 - Sandbach 21 Sat 25 September 99 Having beaten Northwich last week by 30 points to 5 Sandbach were looking to keep their 100% record with a win over this rapidly improving home team. In the first half a masterful display of intelligent rugby skills from Tom Grimson at full back launched attack after attack as Sandbach took control to lead 0-21 at half time. A remarkable performance by Tim Farmer earned the centre a hat trick and a share in the man-of-the-match award for his first half display. In the second half Altrincham changed tactics and kept the ball in the forwards where their huge second rows gave the visitors a torrid time. Fortunately for Sandbach the three pushover tries were not all converted and Sandbach took the honours at the final whistle. Taking a share of the man-of-the-match award was Chris Davenport who played another immense game and looks capable of extending the strong association between Sandbach Rugby and the Davenport family.
