Junior Colts

Heaton Moor 5 - Sandbach 53 Sun 8 October 2000 Sandbach Junior Colts (U17's) first game of the season commenced with a sunny start both in terms of the weather and an early try from new boy Sam Howard, breaking through from the backs. Over a twenty minute period a further six tries were scored, two from Dan Massey, two from Ross Stitt, one from Russ Dymond and one from Will Rees. Four of these were converted by Andy Bird. Towards the end of the first half Heaton made a strong fight back but were unlucky not to convert their pressure into a try. Despite the driving rain either side of half time both sides played fast running rugby in evidence. The second half showed a more equal contest with Sandbach conceding an unconverted try and only achieving two more tries one from Dave Johnson and one from Ross Stitt. Overall a very competant performance for the first game of the season which augers well for our fixture next Sunday against Aldwinians away, our first league game ..
